NEWS RELEASE: Roseville Community Schools to Begin Strategic Planning Process

The Roseville Community Schools Board of Education and administration are launching a new initiative to guide the district through a 3-5 Year Strategic Planning Process.  The purpose of this initiative is to help the district develop goals and strategies for continuing to offer an excellent education for the students, while using public education resources in the most effective and efficient way.

Superintendent Mark Blaszkowski said that stakeholder feedback will be a key component of the planning process.  “Community members, parents, teachers, administrators, students, and other district staff members will be asked questions regarding strengths, areas to improve and, vision for the district.  This information, as well as other data regarding student performance, will be shared at a planning retreat and compared to other districts.  Dr. Rod Green, consultant from the Michigan Association of School Boards (MASB), will be assisting the district in the strategic planning process.  “Having goals for the future of the district is essential to the growth of our schools.  We need to be relevant to our parents, students, and community, and we are happy to be working with Dr. Green on this important endeavor,” Blaszkowski added.

The school board is asking for the community’s input during this process and intends to use data and stakeholder feedback to make decisions and to set priorities for the district.  The online survey for the process will be available on the school district’s website until September 24.  In addition to the survey, the district will be holding input sessions with six separate groups on September 20, including RHS students, support staff, secondary teachers, elementary teachers, administrators, and board members.  Individuals from these sessions will also be chosen to participate in a planning retreat, which will be held on October 16.  There will be a final planning session on October 21, with board approval slated for November 15.

Board of Education President Theresa Genest said that the board members are looking forward to collaborating with the superintendent, administrators, staff, and community members.  “We want to hear where they would like our district to be five years down the road.  We have a community of hard-working citizens and with their help we can hopefully achieve our goals.”  The strategic plan survey can be accessed here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/RosevilleSP2021
